Edge in the Community - Grow 73

At Edge, we are passionate about giving back and making a difference within the local community helping organisations and charities. We have established a number of great local causes and all members of the Edge team are encouraged to help support them.

Grow 73

Grow 73 is a volunteer community group focusing on developing growing opportunities in Rutherglen by coming together with the common purpose of making a positive impact on the environment and the local community by transforming any unused piece of land. Their overarching aim is to establish a community garden in Overtoun Park as a place where all generations can work and learn together to grow fruit, vegetables and plants.

Initially, the Edge team assisted in clearing out, re soiling and planting 6 planters at Rutherglen Train Station.

Lynn Semple from Grow 73 was extremely pleased with the outcome.

“We had a really productive day at Rutherglen Train Station with a lovely group of people from Edge Testing who helped us tackle the planters. Old tired planting binned, soil refreshed, bulbs in and fresh planting - planters looking much better! Thanks to Edge Testing”

The Edge team had great fun bringing some colour to people's commute!

Edge also lent a hand to tidying the community garden at Overtoun Park.

Amongst others, the Edge team helped clear leaves, up root trees, cut back hedges and as improve the general tidiness of the park.

Edge’s Cecile Robb said:

"It's fantastic to be given the opportunity to take part in voluntary work in the community. Grow 73 are a great charity working to improve the facilities for children living in Rutherglen. They are very appreciative of the help we give them, and their volunteers have a very clear vision of what they want to achieve and how to go about it. I was very impressed by the work that they did at Rutherglen train station with the help of some of my Edge colleagues, and I was very excited to be able to take part in the squirrel garden clearance at the Overtoun Park the following week. I love working for a company that strives to give back to the local communities, and I look forward to my next Edge Company Day."

Edge hope to continue these relationships and assist Grow 73 again in the near future.
